Description

Works with physicians, patients' and families to provide pre procedural education and ensure appropriate follow up care post procedure for patients undergoing procedures in the CVL and IR Labs.
Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
Experience
  • 3-4 years Healthcare experience required
Licenses and Certifications
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Valid RN license in the State of Maryland. Upon Hire required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of broad clinical areas, with a focus on cardiac and interventional radiology procedures and care.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Collaborates and communicates with Interventional physicians to determine appropriate pre and post needs of the patient.
  • Collaborates with the IR and Cardiac physicians, RNs and other clinical ancillary staff to identify patients who may benefit from referrals to other services.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with primary care physicians, specialists and outpatient service line leaders for the purposes of meeting pre/intra/post procedural needs.
  • Develops, implements tracking system and reports regularly on the care provided.
  • Makes referrals to Primary Care, outpatient services, specialists, etc. based on patients' needs.
  • Obtains appropriate documentation and pre procedural data prior to procedure. Participates in post discharge education and service call backs.
  • Provides education to the interventional patient concerning pre-test requirements and procedural expectations.
  • Provides ongoing education to the CVL, IR, Heartline, and CVRU staff.
  • Works with registration and Heartline staff to ensure complete and accurate information on primary care physicians is collected.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
