MedStar Health is looking for a Polysomnographic Tech / Sleep Technologist to join our team atMedStar Georgetown University Hospital!
As the Sleep Technologist, you will assist in coordinating home sleep testing and provisioning of durable medical equipment and other therapeutics for clinic patients following established standards and practices.
Performs pulmonary function tests, exercise tests, and pulmonary rehabilitation exercises. The sleep technologist collaborates with physicians, patients, and families in the delivery of services and management of sleep and respiratory disorders and acts as the liaison and point of contact to resolve patient issues, problems, and treatments.

Primary Duties:
· Conducts patient telephone triage, assesses durable medical equipment (DME) needs, and provides home care advice. Educates patients and families on diagnostic procedures, sleep health, and respiratory wellness. Sets up and instructs on home sleep testing, analyzes data, and prepares reports for physician interpretation.
· Ensures timely provisioning of DME by applying knowledge of CMS and insurance guidelines. Monitors CPAP compliance, performs smart card downloads, and makes adjustments under physician guidance. Conducts in-person mask and pressure desensitization sessions to support therapeutic compliance.
· Maintains and reviews patient records, assists with test results, and follows up with DME companies. Scans and indexes clinical documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) within required timeframes. Adapts to electronic programs like EHR, Azyxxi, and Outlook while adhering to HIPAA and privacy policies.
· Represents the department in meetings, committees, and community outreach efforts. Liaises with MedStar Sleep Centers, inpatient case management, and other hospital departments to ensure continuity of care. Participates in hospital-wide employee education events related to sleep health.
· Contributes to department goals, follows policies and safety standards, and complies with governmental regulations. Tracks and analyzes patient compliance data, making recommendations to improve overall population compliance. Enhances patient satisfaction through personalized, courteous service.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED required (Associate's degree (preferred) Bachelor's (preferred)
· Formal education in sleep technology or respiratory therapy (required)
· 2 year's experience at the technician level or the equivalent (required)
· 1-2 year's Durable medical equipment experience and previous use of electronic medical records (preferred)[KH1]
