General Summary of Position
Reports to the Regional Director of Operations, MedStar Geriatrics, and works closely with clinical leadership and clinical and non-clinical staff at MGSH Center for Successful Aging (CSA) to drive operational performance, financial management, and growth. Responsible for the overall supervision, coordination, planning, evaluation, and monitoring of MGSH CSA operations.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assumes overall responsibility for CSA operations. Manages a team of Coordinators, Medical Assistants and other staff and ensures adherences to CSA policies and best practices.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
  • Works with the Regional Director of Operations and clinical leadership to develop department operating budget and ensure that department operates within budget.
  • Coordinates the schedule for new providers and modifies existing provider schedules as appropriate. Monitors provider scheduling practices and staffing levels to ensure patient needs and financial goals are met.
  • Sets, tracks, and reports goals, targets, and outcome/performance measures to monitor/evaluate the work. Researches, analyzes, and uses data to inform decision-making and strategic planning for MGSH CSA.
  • Conducts operational and financial analysis of department or areas through interaction of department personnel.Assists all levels of management with understanding the financial performance of current operations and the impact of management decisions or other events on performance.
  • Works as partner and team member with the Regional Director of Operations, and Medical Director for MGSH CSA to develop and strengthen communications, team building, and positive work environment.
  • Oversees operational dashboards of outstanding and ongoing projects. Responsible for the production, procurement, and planning of daily operations.
  • Serves as the primary departmental liaison in internal and external business relationships, contracts, and vendor relationships. Serves as liaison between departments, associates, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Reports statistics, evaluates problems, and proposes solutions or the office.
  • Resolves conflicts between patients, physicians, and staff independently and/or in consultation with the physicians.
  • Supports new clinical and service initiatives; embraces new technology and use of electronic health records.
  • Works with physicians and staff to minimize the patient wait by arranging for appropriates coverage to maintain optimum patient flow among all specialties. Seeks opportunities to improve care and the patient experience.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Two years of College completed required and
    • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

    Experience

    • 3-4 years healthcare/medical office management experience required
    • 1-2 years 1-2 years general management experience required
    • 1-2 years Financial Management & Budgeting experience preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Excellent organizational and management skills
    • Excellent customer service, and verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to set and manage multiple priorities.
    • Knowledge of practice management systems preferred.
    • Proficiency with office equipment, Microsoft Office, and medical office software


    This position has a hiring range of $70,428 - $131,310
