Mercy is seeking a Part-Time Clinical Pharmacist Floater to support patient care across Mercy Hospital Aurora and Mercy Hospital Cassville. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on patient outcomes while working alongside physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams.
Schedule
- 10 hours per week at Mercy Hospital Aurora
- 10 hours per week at Mercy Hospital Cassville
- Additional hours available to provide PTO and schedule coverage

What You'll DoAs a Clinical Pharmacist, you will serve as a medication expert and essential member of the healthcare team by:
Clinical Practice- Review and evaluate medication orders for appropriateness, safety, and effectiveness
- Monitor and optimize drug therapy through patient chart reviews and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Develop individualized medication plans that minimize risks and maximize therapeutic outcomes
- Assess patient conditions to ensure medication-related needs are appropriately addressed
- Identify and resolve drug interactions, contraindications, dosing concerns, and adverse effects
- Provide medication therapy recommendations to prescribers and healthcare teams
- Consult with physicians, nurses, and patients regarding medication use, administration, and monitoring
- Evaluate treatment outcomes and adjust recommendations as appropriate
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure exceptional patient care
- Serve as a trusted drug information resource for clinical staff and patients
- Support care management initiatives and formulary compliance
- Participate in investigational protocols and quality improvement activities when needed
- Precept pharmacy students and participate in educational initiatives
- Present in-services and continuing education programs for healthcare staff
- Assist with department competencies and staff development
- Maintain current clinical knowledge and professional licensure requirements
- Serve as a clinical resource in specialized patient care areas as appropriate
- Participate in medication-use evaluations, adverse drug reaction reporting, and quality assurance initiatives
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
- Comply with regulatory, accreditation, licensing, and hospital standards
- Complete required medication storage, expiration date, and floor stock inspections
- Participate in departmental projects, policy reviews, and committee assignments
- Utilize Epic and pharmacy information systems for order verification and clinical documentation
- Access clinical resources such as Micromedex for medication decision support
- Work with pharmacy automation technologies including Omnicell, McKesson, ScriptPro, and other related systems
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Current pharmacist license in the state of practice
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills
- Two or more years of clinical pharmacy experience
- PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency
- Experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Knowledge of clinical documentation systems and pharmacy automation technology
