Overview

Join our team as a Clinical Pharmacist (Retail) and play a vital role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered pharmacy care. In this role, you will oversee medication dispensing and order verification, monitor medication therapy, provide clinical guidance, and serve as a trusted resource for patients and healthcare professionals. You will collaborate with physicians and care teams to optimize medication therapy, resolve medication-related concerns, and support high-quality patient outcomes while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities Clinical & Pharmacy Services
  • Review, verify, and process medication orders to ensure appropriate dosing, scheduling, route of administration, and therapeutic use.

  • Identify, prevent, and resolve medication-related issues, including drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, allergies, and contraindications.

  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to recommend and optimize medication therapies.

  • Oversee the preparation, labeling, dispensing, and delivery of medications.

  • Provide medication counseling and drug information to patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Respond to complex medication and therapy-related inquiries.

  • Ensure the accuracy of medications prepared by pharmacy technicians and support staff before distribution.

  • Prioritize workload effectively to meet patient, departmental, and operational needs while maintaining timely service.

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff in the absence of the pharmacy manager.

  • Adhere to established pharmacy policies, procedures, and best practices related to medication preparation and distribution.

Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, visitor, and coworker information in accordance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.

  • Comply with all organizational policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to medication use, patient safety, security, infection prevention, and risk management.

  • Follow all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing pharmacy practice.

  • Utilize internal and external data to continually improve pharmacy operations and patient care.

Professional Development & Team Support
  • Participate in the orientation, training, and development of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, residents, students, and support staff.

  • Pursue ongoing professional development through continuing education and professional activities.

  • Foster a collaborative team environment by welcoming feedback, sharing knowledge, and contributing to departmental goals and initiatives.

Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited School or College of Pharmacy.

Licensure
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous retail pharmacy experience preferred, but not required.

  • For pharmacists practicing in Missouri: Medication Therapy Services Certificate issued by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
