The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is the first point of contact for our patients and visitors and plays a vital role in creating a positive, seamless patient experience. This position supports front desk operations, patient workflows, and clinic coordination while providing exceptional customer service in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner and verify patient identity
- Perform all check‑in, check‑out, and appointment scheduling activities
- Answer phones and complete general clerical duties, including Epic chart creation, scanning, RightFax management, copying, and mail processing
- Balance and close assigned cash drawer daily, maintaining accurate cash counts
- Maintain accuracy of patient charts and electronic health records (EHR)
- Demonstrate working knowledge of clinic equipment, including computers, scanners, credit card machines, copiers/fax machines, and related office tools
- Review departmental communications in a timely manner, participate in meetings, and suggest workflow improvements
- Support and implement changes related to EPIC or clinic workflows
- Maintain a clean, safe reception and waiting area in accordance with Infection Control Guidelines
- Adhere to safety regulations, confidentiality policies, and incident reporting procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills with a patient‑focused, empathetic approach
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including data entry and word processing
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow privacy policies and procedures
- Ability to adapt in a fast‑paced environment and remain professional under pressure
- Willingness to attend and complete Clinic Core Front Desk Training post‑hire
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as required to perform job duties
- One year of applicable medical office or healthcare experience
