Overview:
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for purchasing all medical supplies, patient supplies, food supplies, and other supplies necessary for the Support Services department. The Purchasing Coordinator works with the Food Service Leader to ensure that all supplies needed for cafeteria menus, patient menus, catering menus, Catherine's Corner menus, and Mercy Market menus are on hand as needed. The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for establishing pars, placing all orders, receiving all orders from the vendors, and placing all items into the correct storage location. The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for checking in all self ordering vendors to ensure that all products charged to the department match items delivered to the department. The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for obtaining credit for any items missing or damaged. In addition the Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for working with the Executive Chef and department Supervisors to ensure that storage areas are neat, clean, and organized at all times and meet the guidelines set by Joint Commission and the State Health Department. The Purchasing Coordinator is also responsible for working with the Food Service leader implementing and maintaining CBORD FSS, an inventory program designed to assist the department with menu driven purchasing. The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for coding and processing all invoices charged to the department to ensure that Accounts Payable receives invoices and has the ability to pay vendors according to terms.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience working in healthcare food service environment.Prefer 3-5 years experience in purchasing food and other items for a corporate chain restaurant or healthcare facility purchasing in excess of one million dollars anually.
- Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Other: Excellent organizational skills required. Must possess the ability to identify numerous product lines and have the communication skills necessary to provide orders for a variety of departments throughout the health center. Background in purchasing from a variety of local food service vendors. Knowledge and understanding of healthcare based contract negotiations. Knowledge of Premier contract pricing.
