Under general direction of the Mercy Child Advocacy Center Director and Medical Director, the Nurse Examiner conducts independent sexual abuse exams for Pediatric and Adolescent patients. In conjunction with the physical examinations Nurse Examiner will provide pre and post conferences to family member as deemed appropriate as well as child abuse agencies involved in the investigative process. When physicians conduct sexual assault exams or physical abuse exams Nurse Examiner will schedule, assist and follow up on all components of medical examinations through the Mercy Child Advocacy Center, adhering to principles of Service Excellence and the Philosophy and Mission of Mercy Health Center in all aspects of job performance.

Excellent organization and communication skills. Ability to work with many different professions. Previous experience in the area of child welfare preferred. Must have flexible nature. To reduce systematic trauma to children and their families. To advocate for successful case resolutions for children. To empower non-offending significant others. To influence institutions/others towards better treatment of child sexual abuse issues. The advocate is also responsible for maintaining contact with the child and family if possible. Supporting the child in court and logging information into the NCATrak database. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details: RN - Counselor PRN Mercy - Child Advocate Center Hot Springs, Arkansas Qualifications: Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
Experience: At least 5 yrs. nursing experience; preferably with 2 yrs. pediatric experience.
Certification/Registration:
CPR & AED Certified maintain active Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Adult and Pediatric Certifications accredited through the International Association of Forensic Nurses. Maintain Law Enforcement Instructors Certification. Complete Child First Training.
Other Skills and Knowledge:
Maintain collaborative working relationships with Department of Human Services, State Police, Law Enforcement, and other child abuse agencies. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and willingness to deal collaboratively and cooperatively with health care institution and community.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
