Registered Nurse First Assistant - RNFA

Overview:
The Mercy Center for Performance Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center provides state-of-the-art surgical care for patients across a wide range of specialties. The center features 10 operating rooms, 2 minor procedure rooms, and 1 cystoscopy suite, making it one of the largest outpatient surgery centers in the United States. Each space is equipped with the latest advanced technology to support high-quality patient care.
Surgical specialties offered include orthopedics, urology, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, and general surgery, ensuring comprehensive treatment options for diverse patient needs.
In addition to its operating rooms, the center includes a fully integrated surgical support environment with its own pre- and post-operative areas, PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit), 23-hour observation unit, sterile processing department (SPD), and supply chain services.

Qualifications Education- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of one (1) year of perioperative nursing experience required.
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery center setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the first year of employment.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within the first year of employment.
- CNOR certification preferred.
- RN First Assistant (RNFA) course completion and/or certification preferred.
- Demonstrates ongoing competency in perioperative nursing practice and first assisting activities.
- Maintains current knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic technique, and patient safety standards.
- Ability to work effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
