Job Description:

  • Areas of responsibility will include: Credentialing; Medical Staff governance, including peer review, OPPE, FPPE; accreditation and regulatory compliance; departmental operations; supporting key Committees of the Medical Staff including, but not limited to, Medical Executive Committee, Bylaws and Rules & Regulations Committee, Credentials Committee, and Committee on Advanced Practice Providers.
  • This position manages, and on occasion performs, the credentialing and privileging of medical staff for services to be performed at the Hospital.
  • Establishes and maintains constructive lines of communication between physicians and the hospital, fostering positive on-going relationships.
  • Leads efforts to monitor, assess and recommend changes to policies and procedures for the effectiveness of operational practices supporting physician Bylaws and improving medical staff relationships with the Hospital.
  • Provides guidance to staff and is responsible for staffing, budget compliance, contributing to staffing decisions such as hiring and terminating employment, coaching and counseling employees on work related performance, and assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment.
  • Oversees practitioner competency systems including credentialing, privilege delineation, reappointment, peer review, OPPE and FPPE.
  • Manages practitioner database and ensures data accuracy and integrity of physician credentialing and privileging.
  • Oversees medical staff and advanced practice provider orientation, as well as other on-boarding activities.

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years prior experience in Medical Staff Services in a management or equivalent position

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business or health related field preferred

Licensure/Certifications

  • Current NAMSS Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification required
