Pay Range: $86,260 – 138,906 annually


Job Description: Your Piece of the Puzzle

 

As NFM's Software Development Manager, you will spearhead the adoption and optimization of cloud-based infrastructure, focusing on enhancing automation and streamlining operations across development processes. This pivotal role is responsible for guiding the organization through its cloud transformation journey, ensuring that our infrastructure and application environments are scalable, secure, and efficiently managed to support continuous integration and delivery. You will lead strategic planning, deployment, and ongoing improvements, while fostering a collaborative culture that empowers cross-functional teams to drive innovation and efficiency at scale. This is a remote position requiring the candidate to reside in Omaha, Ne. 

 

Job Duties: A Day in the Life:

 

Azure Cloud Strategy and Management:

    • Lead the adoption and optimization of Azure cloud services, ensuring alignment with business objectives and seamless integration with existing systems.
    • Manage cloud resources and services using Azure, optimizing for scalability, security, and performance.

Automation with Terraform and Ansible:

    • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform to provision and manage Azure environments.
    • Utilize Ansible for configuration management to ensure consistent deployment and operational standards across environments.

CI/CD Pipeline Management with Azure DevOps:

    • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to automate builds, tests, and deployments, ensuring high availability and rapid delivery.
    • Integrate Terraform and Ansible within Azure DevOps pipelines to streamline updates and ensure consistency across development, staging, and production environments.

Security and Compliance:

    • Implement and manage security protocols within Azure and integrate security practices into the CI/CD pipelines to protect data and comply with regulatory requirements.
    • Regularly review and update security measures based on evolving threats and industry standards.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

    • Set up and maintain monitoring tools within Azure to track performance and system health.
    • Analyze performance data to proactively address bottlenecks and optimize cloud resource utilization to reduce costs.

Team Leadership and Skill Development:

    • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers and IT professionals, including the Cloud Architect, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
    • Organize training sessions and resources to enhance team proficiency in Azure, Terraform, Ansible, and Azure DevOps.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

    • Maintain clear and effective communication with business leaders and IT teams to ensure technology implementations enhance business value.
    • Prepare and deliver presentations on cloud strategy, technology impacts, and progress updates to stakeholders at all levels.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay informed about new features and technologies within the Azure ecosystem and other relevant DevOps tools.
    • Evaluate and propose the adoption of new tools and technologies that could enhance operational efficiency and support business goals.

Strategic Oversight of Cloud Architecture:

    • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the organization's cloud architecture and solutions, ensuring alignment with the overall business and IT strategy.
    • Supervise and mentor the Cloud Architect, ensuring that architectural designs and implementations enhance scalability, performance, and security.

Governance and Best Practices:

    • Oversee the creation and maintenance of cloud governance frameworks, led by the Cloud Architect, to ensure compliance with security standards and cost management.
    • Promote and enforce best practices in cloud architecture, focusing on areas such as security, data integrity, and disaster recovery plans.

Qualifications: Can You Check These Boxes?

  • Bachelor's degree with area of specialization in Information Systems or related field
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in IT preferably in retail industry
  • Minimum 5 years of software development experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Project Management and Agile Frameworks
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team framework and to motivate colleagues in order to manage projects most effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of medium or greater size, complexity, and impact
  • Ability to accomplish difficult tasks and make decisions with minimal supervision/review by others
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. (required to prepare presentations for Senior Managers)
  • Comprehensive understanding of application software and system concepts and the ability to apply them for the completion of difficult assignments
  • 4 + years' experience with using the Microsoft suite of tools (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project)
  • 2 + years' experience with Agile tools like Jira and Azure DevOps
  • Demonstrated leadership experience leading high performing teams or organizations through significant change preferred
  • Previous experience in re-engineering business application preferred
  • Good knowledge in cloud technologies, architecture, and services preferred
  • Ability to work night, weekend and/or early morning hours based on business needs
