Accounting Receivable Analysts work in our dynamic accounting group and support a broad set of operational accounting functions across the company. You will join a diverse team of experienced professionals and functional department to include Accounts Payable, Capital Accounting, Payroll, and Miscellaneous Billing. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of accounts receivables for a portfolio of Norfolk Southern customer accounts.
Position Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for collecting open receivable balances timely and efficiently.
- Provides regular and consistent communication to customers to ensure visibility to open balances, payment performance, and other issues preventing/interrupting timely payment.
- Identifies, researches, and provides solutions for root causes for delayed payments by customers.
- Researches and responds to customer inquiries regarding invoices, payments, or other issues.
- Collaborates with other internal departments, conducts research, and interprets contracts to resolve customer disputes and other collections issues.
- Analyzes trends and identifies opportunities for process improvement within assigned portfolio.
- Works on special projects as needed.
Job Related Experience:
Minimum Level: 1-3 years
Education Required
Bachelor's degree or higher required.
Degrees Preferred: Accounting or Finance
Skills Required
- 1-3 years of relevant work exposure and/or experience with basic accounting procedures.
- Excel and MS Office 365 Suite
