Description

At NorthBay Health provides support to the Trauma Program PI/PS Department, Emergency Department, and coordinates projects, studies, and initiatives.  The ED PI/PS Nurse abstracts complex clinical data from medical records into databases in support of PI/PS initiatives and projects.  Conducts studies, gathers data from appropriate information sources, unit rounds and/or other information systems, utilizes appropriate graphical representations, and prepares reports on assigned focus studies.  Works collaboratively with study stakeholders to develop improvement strategies, as assigned.  Works independently on assigned projects utilizing a high level of initiative, judgment, and critical thinking skills. Works under the supervision of the Trauma Program Manager/Emergency Services Manager. Supports the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing,  
  • Nursing degree of BSN level or higher is required. 

Licensure: 

  • RN with current California license. 
  • Current California driver's license.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Minimum of five years critical care experience. 
  • Two years recent acute care experience required.
  • Prior experience in QI preferred. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. 
  • Must be well organized, be able to set priorities, work independently, and is an effective team member. 
  • Must possess a high degree of attention to detail. 
  • Ability to abstract complex clinical data in support of core measures and benchmarking activities required. 
  • Basic word process skills and Power Point skills required.  Excel, Access or other database management skills preferred. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required in interacting and dealing with medical staff, directors/supervisors and hospital personnel as well as external customers. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of information and is reliable, tactful, and discreet. Ability to conduct service recovery

Other:

  • Ability to travel between facility and work sites with access to an operating vehicle with at least minimal coverage auto insurance.

Hours of Work: 

  • Hours will vary according to work demands and project requirements.
  • FTE: 0.8 (Full-Time Equivalent)
  • Total Hours: 64 hours over two pay periods (2 weeks)
  • Shift: 8-hour shifts

Compensation:

  • Hourly Salary Range Min $76.57 - Max $92.31 (Offered hourly rate based on years of experience)
