At NorthBay Health, the Rehabilitation Therapy Aide works under the supervision of the Rehab Supervisor. Under direct supervision of Physical/Occupational/Speech therapist, performs clearly defined physical therapy treatments as assigned, prepares patients and equipment for therapy, responsible for maintenance of department work areas and equipment, and performs general clerical duties as assigned. 

                                                PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  1. Assists Physical/Occupational/Speech therapist in treatment procedures and/or modalities.

  2. Directs and assists patients in exercise programs develop by the Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapist.

  3. Directs and assists patients in ambulation skills as directed by the Physical /Occupational/Speech Therapist.

  4. Reports any problems, patient reactions, etc., arising during patient's treatment to responsible therapist.

  5. Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

  6. Maintains established levels of supplies including linens, crutches, bandages, etc.

  7. Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.

  8. Attends department and hospital meetings as required.

  9. Performs clerical duties as assigned.

  10. Establishes and maintains effective communication with medical staff, co-workers, patients and hospital personnel.

  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications

  1. Education:  High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

  2. Licensure: None. 

  3. Experience: One year experience in health care setting preferred. On-the-job training provided by registered physical Occupational/Speech therapist.

  4. Skills:  Able to read and write English (required).  Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups:  Pediatric, Young Adult, Adult and Geriatric.

  5. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the True North values.   6. Hours of Work: Assigned shift during department operating hours (Availability between 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) based on business need. Must be able to participate in weekend/holiday rotation.

  7. Compensation: $28 to $34.09 per hour based on years of experience doing the duties of the role.
