Description

The MSBSD - University of Alaska Teacher Education Program Partnership with University of Alaska application is now open!

The Matanuska Susitna Borough School District (MSBSD) and the University of Alaska have partnered to host a “Grow Your Own” teacher education program. This program is designed to provide MSBSD students or recent graduates with the opportunity to pursue a bachelor's degree in education through the University of Alaska while working part-time with MSBSD.  This 2+2 program allows students to complete their first two years of their program through Mat-Su College and then complete the remaining 2 through either the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS), University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) or the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), depending on which education degree program they wish to pursue.

How to Apply for an Academic Scholarship

You will need to upload several documents in order to complete your application. Before you start, please be sure you have the following documents available:
  • Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) email confirmation. Once you receive your email confirmation, you will need to save it as a PDF or JPEG in order to upload it to your scholarship application. . Only one FAFSA confirmation needs to be submitted with your application. Please note that submitting incorrect documentation may slow your application processing time. If you have not yet completed the FAFSA, you must do so before completing your MSBSD scholarship loan application.
  • Unofficial copy of your most recent transcript (high school, college or university).
  • Apply and be accepted to the University of Alaska and provide confirmation of acceptance.

If you don't complete the entire application at one time you may save your work and return later. We have now converted to a rolling deadline for the scholarship program..

Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted and applicants will be contacted with any questions or if accepted into the program.
