Job Summary

 

Support the Sr Product Manager and business unit with product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle.  This position is cross functional working with multiple departments including engineering, sales, finance, channel market, customer service and supply chain.  The key contribution of the associate product manager is to help define the product vision, strategy and assist in the implementation of product plans and day to day activities for Barrette Outdoor Living.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Become the expert in assigned product categories.  Provide technical expertise and training to other departments in support of product development.  Understand and clearly communicate all vital information across all relative departments.
  • Actively monitor the competitive landscape:  research competitive products by identifying and evaluating product characteristics, market share, and pricing.
  • Perform gap analysis studies for appropriate product categories to help identify opportunities for category expansion.  This includes being hands on and building products to best understand the customer experience.
  • Work with product development team to create new products and manage lifecycle of existing products.  Brainstorm ideas and troubleshoot product issues with both engineering and product management team members.
  • Develop high level project briefs and in depth scope of work documents to properly define projects.  Act as project manager to ensure products launches are on time and efficient.
  • Data management throughout product lifecycles including databases, inventory management and sales/point of sale analysis.
  • Travel with sales to visit customers to understand differences across channels and geographically.  Gather customer feedback on current products and potential new opportunities.
  • Travel to trade shows when as require to keep up with competition and market trends in other build products.

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a field such as engineering, marketing, business administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years' experience in one of the following:  sales (inside or outside), operations, product development or related job experience.
  • Knowledge of basic business software (Microsoft Office).
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and drive results in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Innate desire to learn about all aspects of the product development process.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
