Summary:

This position conducts financial and business analysis across all Retail Enterprise operations, from startup ventures to long-term strategic initiatives. The analyst will prepare business plans, financial forecasts, and performance reports while identifying opportunities to optimize profitability, improve operational efficiency, and support strategic growth. This role makes data-driven recommendations to senior leadership on revenue enhancement, cost management, and business diversification strategies. 


Responsibilities:

* Assess strategic growth initiatives and assist in planning and developing strategic objectives, supporting long-term planning and decision-making processes across the Enterprise.
* Converse with management or strategic planning committees to formulate strategic plans and directions, discuss overall intent of programs or projects, utilizing knowledge of subject area, research techniques, and regulatory limitations.
* Analyze business operations and recommend solutions to business problems from a cross-enterprise perspective, focusing on alignment with organizational goals. Assess and research studies, prepare reports, and provide advice on feasibility, cost effectiveness, and regulatory conformance of long and short-range strategic plans, proposals, special projects, and ongoing programs.
* Conduct objective analytics to help the business improve profitability, operational processes and customer service through identification and evaluation of revenue growth opportunities, resource optimization, competitive market dynamics, customer behavior and pricing optimization. Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses, and capital expenditures.
* Develop, analyze and consolidate financial data from various business units to present a comprehensive view of the organization's financial position. Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and presentations to senior management, highlighting key insights, performance metrics, and recommendations.
* Develop and provide complex financial analysis and Return on Investment (ROI) calculations for projects and initiatives. Provide moderate to complex cost-benefit analysis to review financial requests and decisions.
* Provide and prepare all needed reports to assist management with their department's financial and budget plans. Act as a resource for departments on transactional inquiries and financial/budgetary questions requiring problem-solving and analytical capability.
* Assist in developing financial forecasts and use financial models to predict future financial performance and support decision-making processes. Assist in the continuing development of budgeting, financial forecasting, operating plan, and modeling tools.
* Create promotion and event efficiency reports to analyze promotion cost factors, sales information, and gross profit impact to assist Marketing in developing annual marketing plans and measuring return on investment. Recommend process improvements to enhance store operations and customer service.
* Investigate and resolve inventory variances, report findings to management. Use historical sales data, seasonality, and promotions to predict inventory demands and automate reordering based on sales trends.
* Manage customer loyalty application aligned with business goals, including troubleshooting issues related to loyalty points, rewards, and app functionality. Oversee loyalty application functionality, user experience and work with Digital Technology Services to align with business needs.
* Using system tools, data, and critical thinking, provide detailed insight into operational performance and collaborate with business areas to resolve problems, address variances, and determine current and future risks. Collaborate with departments to proactively monitor revenue cycle, resource utilization, supplies, inventory, and other expense trends and issues.
* Provide direction and support regarding financial and operational activities, including profit strategies, labor costs and scheduling, marketing, compliance, expansion, and operating efficiencies. Incorporate data analytics when conducting analysis and provide sound recommendations regarding operational and financial activities.
* Gather and analyze data, finding patterns and trends in areas such as sales, pricing, business mix, category structure, and seasonal changes. Analyze data to answer questions for key stakeholders to drive business performance and identify areas of efficiency and productivity.
* Develop and maintain dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and interactive reports for various stakeholders. Create custom queries and reports using Business Intelligence tools and ad-hoc reporting tools such as Tableau Software, Power BI, SQL, and Access.
* Perform complex financial, statistical, productivity, and cost analytics. Interpret data to discover underlying causes, patterns, relationships, and trends using various software applications. Transform data into actionable information to support business unit goals.
* Research external methods, processes, and software to provide business solutions tailored to new trends, demands, and concepts.
* Develop business plans including financial projections and needs, demographic analysis, sales plans, competitive analysis, operating plans, and breakeven analysis. Draft, develop, review, and edit business plans and financial documents to ensure divisions meet revenue and financial objectives.
* Maintain positive and trusting relationships with all departments to effectively maximize performance, utilizing communication skills, facilitation skills, knowledge of team dynamics, and commitment to continuous improvement.
* Always provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Establish effective working relationships.

Skills:

Essential:
* Proficiency in mathematics with the skill to translate complex mathematical information into understandable reports and communicate findings in verbal, written and visual presentations
* Knowledge of tribal, federal, and state accounting, purchasing, and auditing policies and procedures
* Ability to adapt to changing business environment, receptive to feedback and willingness to learn.
* Ability to learn and utilize new and existing software within the retail industries to an advanced level. Create custom queries and reports using Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau Software, Power BI, SQL, Access, and create applications and reports using advanced software tools for various end users across the Retail Enterprise division.
* Advanced ability to work with and create large datasets from multiple data sources with expertise in both logical and physical data modeling, and knowledge of operational business dynamics including P&L management and budgeting.
* Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
* Ability to exercise independent judgment and work as a team player within cross-functional business units. Conducts complex, important work with minimal supervision and wide latitude for independent judgment.
* Ability to work with Project Management software, create project charters, and lead project teams. Ability to develop and implement requests for services/proposals and scoring systems to assist in selection processes.
* Strong research and data analysis skills with advanced understanding of business processes and ability to provide analytical and quantitative research support by accessing, verifying, and organizing market trends, competitive analysis, and sales data.
* Ability to anticipate questions and proactively develop materials or analysis. Ability to read, interpret, and understand how internal and external factors influence financial results.
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to structure large data sets to find usable information with attention to accuracy and detail to thoroughly analyze and resolve issues with limited direction.
* Proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, and financial software applications, including advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, charting, financial functions, data analysis).
* Knowledge of enterprise operations, governing structures, documents, and ability to learn the relationships to Oneida Nation.

Experience:

Essential:
* Five (5) years business analyst, budget manager, financial accountant, or data analytics in a customer/product research role, budgeting for multiple business needs, forecasting, general ledger, financial analysis, business analysis, budget management, data analytics in customer/product research role. 

Nonessential:

Knowledge and previous work experience with

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Data Mining tools
