Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist will assess, diagnose, and treat children with the following special needs: articulation/phonology, receptive language, expressive language, pragmatic language, fluency, voice, and use of augmentative and alternative communication. The Speech-Language Pathologist will also develop individualized education plans (IEPs), design therapy within a child's least restrictive environment, and monitor progress through data collection. The Speech-Language Pathologist will consult with classroom teachers and provide in-service presentations to the staff on communication delays and disorders. To ensure each student is working towards their individual goals and objectives, the Speech-Language Pathologist will serve as a member of a professional team, including Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Special Education Teachers, Regular Education Teachers, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teachers, School Psychologists and Social Workers, and all other pertinent staff within B.I.A. Early Intervention.


Responsibilities:

* Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, and communication disorders among students.
* Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to address students' communication needs and goals.
* Management of referral intake and paperwork for initial evaluations and re-evaluations of speech/language.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress, share insights, and coordinate interventions
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, speech sessions, and progress reports in compliance with school and state regulations.
* Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on home-based interventions.
* Co-plan to co-service students with disabilities in a continuum of settings.
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations

Skills:

Essential:
* Knowledge of or willing to learn about the Oneida history and culture
* Skill in operating a personal computer, utilizing programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Outlook
* Well-developed interpersonal skills are required promoting tact, courtesy, respect, objectivity, maturity, and patience while interacting with a wide variety of personalities
* Excellent organizational skills
* Knowledge of child development with primary emphasis on communication skills
* Ability to provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders
* Knowledge of school curriculum, with emphasis on how communication impacts a child's access and participation
* Expertise in assessment and diagnosis of speech/language impairments and related communication delays/disorders
* Ability to administer formal/informal assessments for re-evaluations for children with speech/language impairments or related services
* Ability to collect and analyze data for purposes of monitoring progress of IEP goals
* Ability to communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and related services staff in consultation
* Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices related to speech-language services in schools
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, educators, and other professionals
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in the field of speech-language pathology

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
