Under the direction of the National Manager of Operational training, this trainer is responsible for being an integral part of the training department. They will be required to teach training classes on a regular basis and or as need to or to help teach oversized classes scheduled during the week.
Job Functions:
- Be available at any time to teach training classes as directed by the National Manager of Operational training.
- Conduct and instruct courses in the time allotted.
- Assess, evaluate and test students in class material via written and physical formats.
- Complete all required administration and documents for all classes held. ie certificates, attendance sheets and student files.
- Update employee certifications, renewals and in-class training schedules on TEAM.
- Provide input to class and student progress or deficiencies to the National Manager of Operational training.
- Any additional duties stated by the National Manager of Operational training or branch manager.
Requirements:
- Be able to successfully complete certification to instruct company approved courses as well as Paladin specific designed courses.
- Be physically fit of good health and no physical limitations that would inhibit the instruction of all physically driven courses.
- The ability to teach and lecture to large groups
- Teaching and or training experience is an asset
- Certified in MOAB, NVCI, UOF and intermediate first Aid (or willing to obtain)
- Certified training in security-related courses is an asset
- Post-secondary education in Police foundations, Criminology, law and security is an asset
- Security industry experience of 4 or more years in a supervisory role preferably
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally
- Strong leadership, organization and facilitation skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong customer service and multi-tasking skills
- Creative ability to foster new and innovative ways to perform and succeed
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and flexibility in time allocation.
- Proficiency in Computer Usage, with an ability to learn all of Paladin's software platforms
- Be willing to work flexible hours
- Able to travel distances away from the Halifax office to instruct classes.
Must have formal education in the area of security or equivalent in security experience
Certificate, Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Security, Occupational Health and Safety (or related), or healthcare field would be an asset
