Responsibilities


The Certified Nurse Midwife is an advanced practice provider who provides family-centered, comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological health care to essentially healthy women from adolescence beyond menopause. The advanced practice provider provides primary care, gynecologic and family planning services, preconception care, care during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, care of the normal newborn during the first 28 days of life, and treatment of male partners for sexually transmitted infections.

The Certified Nurse Midwife practices in collaboration with a licensed physician pursuant to a collaborative practice agreement. The advanced practice provider will be responsible for clinical management for an assigned patient population. Furthermore, the advanced practice provider will a) enhance the quality of care through education and advanced nursing knowledge and practice through research; b) collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team; and c) act as liaison between the nursing care and medical teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience in accordance with local, state and federal requirements.

Current licensure RN and APRN (CNM) in the state of practice.

National Certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife, APRN.

Current NRP, CPR, PALS, BLS, and/or ALS certification as required by specialty, practice, and/or healthcare facility.

Prescriptive Authority by the appropriate state agency, as may be required for practice.

Credentialed by Pediatrix Medical Group and health care facility.

Hours of work: Shift varies as scheduled per practice and health care facility.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

Performs the clinical management of patients in their related specialty area following established guidelines.

Orders/performs therapeutic/diagnostic studies/procedures as assigned and demonstrated through competency.

Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate patient care.

Disseminates pertinent information to assigned patients/staff/healthcare providers gathered from research, special projects or committee involvement related to their role or specialty area.



Qualifications

* Must have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing
