Description

The Online Educational Technologist will be a key resource for advancing the digital capabilities of our Learning Design team, faculty, and program directors. As an expert in educational technology, they will guide and support stakeholders across the online department, enhancing their ability to integrate technology effectively into their teaching and course design. Reporting to the Online Learning Design Manager, the Online Educational Technologist will empower our teams to create dynamic and engaging online learning experiences that meet the highest standards.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Educational Technology Specialist to join our team.

This pivotal role involves leading comprehensive training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one consultations to empower faculty, learning designers, and program directors in harnessing educational technology tools and strategies. The ideal candidate will be a consultant and thought leader in digital learning innovations, recommending and implementing the best tools to enhance curriculum and engage students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead comprehensive training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one consultations to help faculty, learning designers, and program directors effectively utilize educational technology tools and strategies.
  • Serve as a consultant and thought leader in digital learning innovations, recommending and implementing the best tools to enhance curriculum and engage students.
  • Create accessible resources, including guides, video tutorials, and FAQs, to support ongoing technology adoption and proficiency across programs.
  • Work closely with faculty and program leaders to identify needs and provide tailored recommendations for technology integration that align with course objectives.
  • Collaborate on course evaluations, offering feedback on how to improve digital tool usage and student engagement. Provide regular insights on emerging tech trends that could benefit curriculum delivery.
  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs and educational technologies, gathering feedback to improve future sessions and resources.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to educational technology. Investigate and diagnose technical challenges, provide effective solutions, and proactively address recurring issues to minimize disruptions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in educational technology, instructional design, or a related field
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an educational technology or training role within higher education.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in higher education, focusing on faculty management and online education.
  • Demonstrated experience in online teaching and knowledge of best practices in virtual education delivery.
  • Experience with accreditation standards and regulatory compliance for higher education institutions.
  • Work experience in learning management systems (LMS) and online teaching platforms.
  • Effective communication; teamwork; collaboration; problem-solving; critical thinking
  • Proficient with Google Workplace, Microsoft Office, and other computer applications.
  • Familiarity with third-party learning tools; familiarity with Blackboard Ultra and Panapto
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum qualifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in educational technology, instructional design, or a related field
  • Proficiency with various educational technology platforms, strong communication skills for delivering clear, impactful training, and a collaborative approach.
  • Knowledge of best practices in adult learning, strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, collaboration and communication, and a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning.
