Job Summary

(PRN Only position) To provide physics calculation and support for Radiation Oncology and other Radiology services, and for the radiation safety of the hospital facilities and personnel.

Accountabilities

• Calibrates/evaluates all linear accelerators, conventional and CT simulators; inspects radiological checks of therapists and service personnel.

• Prepares and reviews linac data books used by radiation oncology staff.

• Prepares and reviews beam data used in planning computer; reviews/performs patient computer treatment plans

• Reviews patient charts, including computer treatment planning

• Special dosimetry on patients; investigation on unusual treatment methods; research.

• Administrative responsibilities, including supervision of dosimetrists.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of employees that may include final budget authority, hire/termination/disciplinary authority, performance appraisal responsibility. Job will be considered a member of the management staff with direct reports.

Minimum Education

Master's degree in physics or medical physics from a recognized college/university

Minimum Experience

3-5 years

Licensure, Registry or Certification Required

ABR or ABMP certification in radiation oncology physics

Other Required Skills

Dosimetry of high energy photon and electron beams; must have skills necessary to treat patients of all ages
