Job Summary

The Prisma Health EMS Fleet Mechanic performs holistic vehicle oversight and work coordination within the Ambulance Services Department. This position is responsible for maintaining operational mechanical readiness for fleet and coordinating and executing scheduled and unscheduled repairs under the direction of the Fleet Supervisor. This includes monitoring all day-to-day vehicle operations including all aspects of vehicle safety and inspections. The employee is preferred to have ASE certified mechanical knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, as well as, be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity, and teamwork.

Accountabilities

  • Maintains electronic work order records of all inventory, maintenance, and repairs. - 10%

  • Performs of Preventative Maintenance, complex technical and mechanical scheduled and unscheduled vehicle repair in house and/or with approved external vendors at all locations on entire Ambulance Services fleet. –720%

  • Maintain a reserve fleet readiness to eliminate loss of service line production for all locations. - 20%

  • Ensure that all regulatory requirements and life safety devices are current and in working order on vehicles. – 10%

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 4 years - Diesel and gas engine mechanical experience on emergency vehicles

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • Valid driver's license,

  • an acceptable three-year motor vehicle record as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart, and

  • a certificate of auto insurance.

Driving is required for this position using Prisma Health vehicle. Team members will be expected to adhere to the Prisma Health Driver Safety Policy and specific department driving policies. Team members must pass driver training. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and operate handicap accessible vehicles.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

  • Knowledge of required ambulance maintenance as well as working knowledge of DHEC requirements for ambulance and licensing.

  • Basic computer skills

  • Data entry skills

  • Proficient in Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Preferred

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and/or other trade mechanical certifications. - Preferred

  • Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification - Preferred

  • Class "E" or CDL license - Preferred
