Position Summary

The Director of Resident Experience provides national leadership for vibrant lifestyle programming and staff training to deliver an exceptional senior living culture. You will develop, standardize, and oversee active aging activities—spanning fitness, wellness, spiritual enrichment, cognitive stimulation, social engagement, volunteerism, family connections, and celebratory events—fostering a truly dynamic, purpose-driven community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development & Oversight

    • Design and standardize holistic health, functional fitness, and mind-body integration programs across all communities

    • Launch a dynamic social calendar featuring cognitive enrichment workshops, creative expression sessions, and themed experiential learning outings

    • Monitor local implementation; ensure alignment with corporate Pillars of Excellence and best-practice sharing

  • Staff Training & Mentorship

    • Create and deliver curriculum development for Activity Directors, Wellness Coordinators, and programming teams

    • Mentor local leaders in inclusive atmosphere techniques, event planning, and resident-led initiatives

    • Foster a culture of creativity, compassion, and professionalism

  • Wellness & Fitness Leadership

    • Partner with fitness experts to implement balance & mobility enhancement and preventive wellness initiatives

    • Integrate mental wellness offerings: meditation, stress reduction, and rehabilitation—supporting healthy aging goals

    • Establish and maintain relationships with home health, therapy, and supportive services vendors aligned with our age-friendly programming vision

  • Spiritual & Intellectual Enrichment

    • Guide interfaith services, discussion groups, and personal reflection opportunities that nurture sensory stimulation and lifelong learning

    • Oversee educational lectures and workshops promoting intellectual curiosity and purpose-driven events

  • Community & Volunteer Engagement

    • Build partnerships with national/local organizations to deliver community-centered events and volunteerism initiatives

    • Encourage intergenerational activities and resident collaboration with external stakeholders

  • Family & Social Connections

    • Develop national campaigns promoting family involvement and celebration & festivity across generations

    • Provide local teams with strategies for building robust, inclusive social networks among residents

  • Leadership & Collaboration

    • Conduct on-site visits to assess program effectiveness and coach local teams in data-driven program design

    • Collect and analyze resident, family, and staff feedback to drive continuous improvement

    • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all vibrant community culture initiatives

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Indirectly supervise Celebrations Department staff

  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and provide performance feedback per company policies and employment laws

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Recreation, Gerontology, or related field

  • 7+ years' leadership experience in senior living programming, active aging, or multi-site resident services

  • Proven success in program development, staff mentorship, and training program design

  • Strong project management, event-planning skills, and pilot & prototype events rollout on a national scale

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and technology-enabled activities familiarity

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to community locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Wellness Practitioner, ACE Fitness Certification, or equivalent

  • Experience coordinating interfaith or spiritual programming

  • Familiarity with trends in senior living, age-friendly programming, and preventive wellness initiatives

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 60–70 lbs occasionally

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and conduct low-impact group exercise demonstrations

  • Visual acuity for reading printed materials and digital displays
