Richardson Oilseed is one of Canada's oldest and largest fully-integrated oilseed processing and packaging operations with three facilities across Canada. In addition to producing bulk canola oil and meal, our food products division produces a wide variety of canola-based margarines, oils, and shortenings for the industrial, retail and foodservice markets.

Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician (12-18 Month Term) at our Oakville, ON location. A Quality Assurance technician is responsible for ensuring raw material, in-process blends and finished products meet food safety and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspection & testing analysis on incoming raw materials, additional in-process and  finished product according to inspections and test tables

  • Texture, moisture, flavor, salt and microbiological and additional testing on products

  • Apply hold stickers to non-conforming product, conduct tests on product and update NC database

  • Release certificates of analysis for all customers upon request

  • Conduct margarine profiles to verify finished product and retained samples maintain quality &  food safety parameters

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Degree or diploma in Food Science, Microbiology or Chemistry – an asset

  • 3 – 5 years previous experience in a food manufacturing environment

  • Familiar with GMP and HACCP

  • Excellent computer, written, documentation and verbal communication skills

  • Must be willing to work shifts and overtime
