Title: Endocrinology Oncology Nurse Coordinator/Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (DCES)

Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Ambulatory Services - Gastrointestinal (GI) Center Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 37.5 FTE: 0.9375 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Assesses, develops, implements and evaluates the plan of care using the nursing process and proactively anticipates patient needs; provides individual assistance to patients, families and care givers throughout the course of treatment; organizes multi-disciplinary and/or multi-centered care, facilitates effective communication with care providers, and provides education for patients within their primary disease site; coordinates all education and training required for the care team; responsible for the patient experience by ensuring excellent customer service and timely management of any patient complaints; ensures that all patient questions and/or concerns are referred to the proper department and addressed in a timely manner; serves as the point of contact for patients with questions about their plan of care, as well as the point of contact for the attending and all consulting physicians.
The diabetes care and education specialist (DCES) provides integrated clinical and self-management services for diabetes and cardiometabolic care. As a key member of the interprofessional team, the DCES offers collaborative, comprehensive, and person-centered care and education to promote behavior change and improve quality of life. The DCES advocates for individuals with diabetes to ensure optimal care and supports self-management to meet personalized goals and enhance health outcomes.

Starting annual salary for this position is $98,582-$116,333 which is inclusive of a base hourly rate with geographic differential and includes a comprehensive benefit package. The listed pay range reflects the range of potential compensation for this role. License Requirement
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience or critical care experience; or
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park Nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months as a Nurse I at Roswell Park; or
3. Bachelor's degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with one or more years of oncology experience, including GI-specific experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Ideal applicants will have prior experience serving as a Charge Nurse or team leader, along with at least two years of experience in the comprehensive management of individuals with diabetes. Certification as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) is also preferred.
