Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Anesthesiology Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The Department of Anesthesiology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has an immediate opening for a Board Eligible/Board Certified Internal Medicine physician to join our Anesthesia Pre-Operative Clinic (APEC) Team.
APEC is a consult service that evaluates all patients scheduled to undergo perioperative procedures at Roswell Park. We conduct a thorough history and physical, order testing as indicated, evaluate surgical candidacy and take steps to optimize perioperative course.
Physicians shall be responsible for conducting thorough pre-operative evaluations and documenting essential patient information using the iProcedure's iPro Anesthesia documentation system.

Key responsibilities include:
Documenting patient diagnosis, planned procedures, and relevant surgical and anesthetic history.
Conducting a detailed review of medical history, allergies, and performing focused physical exams, with emphasis on cardiac and pulmonary health.
Reviewing and documenting relevant diagnostic studies, ordering additional studies as needed based on established guidelines or clinical judgment.
Performing airway evaluations, including assessing the Mallampati score and identifying notable dental findings.
Assigning an ASA score based on the patient's overall physical status in accordance with American Society of Anesthesiologists standards.
Determining the appropriate anesthesia type and other perioperative interventions, and discussing recommended anesthetic techniques, including risks and benefits, with patients.
Completing and documenting the anesthesia consent form using the iPro
Anesthesia system.

In emergency surgical cases, the Pre-Operative Anesthesia Evaluator will gather and document as much relevant information as possible without delaying entry to the OR, ensuring patient safety remains the top priority.
This role is critical to ensuring a smooth and safe surgical experience for our patients by maintaining high-quality documentation and communication with the anesthesia team. If you are a detail-driven individual with a background in anesthesia or pre-operative care, we encourage you to apply.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, demonstrate excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills that will help promote and maintain strong collaborative relationships with other clinicians at Roswell Park. Candidates must be BE/BC in Internal Medicine, licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York and ACLS Certified.

Salary range is $210,180-$347,368 which includes a comprehensive benefits package. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

License and Certification Requirement
1. License or permit to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York.
2. Possession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in General Internal Medicine, Family Practice or other related medical specialty.
Education and Experience
Medical Doctor degree in the field of General Internal Medicine.

NOTE: Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
