Title: Occupational & Environmental Safety Technician

Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Occupational & Environmental Safety Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Provides direct support to many important safety functions including hazardous material handling, recordkeeping, surveillance and process operations. Some primary duties include:
• Organize and arrange the collection of waste solvents and chemicals; collects and sorts solvents and chemical materials from various locations around the organization; transports solvents to the appropriate collection site. Maintains recordkeeping.
• Maintain Hazardous Waste rooms including performing solvent counts, room inspections, distributing solvent cans, inventory control and recordkeeping in internal databases.
• Support routine decontamination needs including assisting with the laboratory room close-out process and the laboratory safety equipment decontamination program.
• Assist with the Pest Control Program including routine inspections, placement of pest deterrents, and maintaining pest control equipment.
• Support the Respiratory Protection Program by conducting respiratory fit-testing and maintaining accurate recordkeeping of activities.
• Provide support for Industrial Hygiene activities including setting up equipment, performing basic measurements, maintaining equipment and accurate equipment maintenance/calibration records.
• Assist with certification of safety equipment across campus including chemical fume hoods.
• Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety and compliance standards.

Starting salary is $42,641. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

1. Associate's degree; or
2. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time relevant work experience.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
