Title: Senior Programmer Analyst

Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The Sr. Programmer/Analyst is part of an interdisciplinary team focused on improving patient care, optimizing workflows, ensuring patient safety, supporting the data needs of clinical and business stakeholders throughout the organization, and developing innovative software solutions. They are responsible for developing and maintaining web-based tools, server-based processes, and cloud-hosted applications to support business, operational, research, and reporting needs. The candidate will support maintenance and development of our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) API, EDW integrations for extracting and transforming data from multiple source systems and help to maintain a warehouse containing a rich set of cross-functional data to enable reporting across the organization. They will also work with other technical staff and subject matter experts throughout the organization to develop and maintain complex software solutions. They will work with a variety of technologies including back-end application infrastructure and APIs, database systems, ETL processes, Power BI, Intersystems platform, and other enterprise data management tools such as Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric. They may also handle special projects tied to urgent patient safety issues, executive priority work, audit requests, and government regulation. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience1. Doctorate degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field; or
2. Master's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time software development experience; or
3. Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time software development experience; or
4. Associates degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time software development experience; or
5. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma with a diploma or certificate in a computer science, or related field and the equivalent of eight (8) years of full-time software development experience.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates must have experience developing applications with python and PHP using Git/Gitlab for source code revision management. The candidate should have experience performing code reviews and mentoring junior developers. Relational database experience with MySQL/MariaDB or MS SQL Server is required including design and development of complex data warehouse schemas and data queries. The ideal candidate will also have development experience with the Microsoft Fabric platform including Power BI, Data Marts, Data Flows, and Warehouses. Familiarity with Intersystems HealthConnect and manipulating HL7 messages is advantageous. Preferred candidates will have experience developing and consuming REST APIs in PHP/python and be familiar with docker containers including their creation and deployment The preferred candidate will have excellent communication and analytical skills and will have experience working with subject matter experts to gather requirements, test, and maintain software over time.
