Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Laboratory Medicine Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (RPCCC) in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a Vice Chair for Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine. The successful candidate will assume medical and regulatory responsibility to oversee a busy transfusion service, our Donor Center, the division of Therapeutic Apheresis, and our Stem Cell Processing Laboratory, and will serve and the Chair for the RPCCC's Transfusion Committee. The RPCCC transfusion service facilitates approximately 17,000 transfused products per year and our historic Donor Center (among the three oldest platelet collection facilities in the country) procures 2,500 products annually. The RPCCC Therapeutic Apheresis unit provides cellular collection for transplantation and adoptive therapy and research protocols for a variety of solid tumor malignancies, plasmapheresis, red blood cell exchanges for sickle cell patients, extracorporeal photopheresis, and therapeutic phlebotomy. Aside from services provided to RPCCC patients, we also offer outpatient apheresis services for community needs. The successful candidate will directly interface with our expanding and dynamic Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program, a center of excellence in the domain of adoptive therapy offering cutting edge therapies delivered by nationally recognized specialists.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine has a robust infrastructure for supporting clinical and translational investigations. RPCCC provides a competitive salary and research funding and currently enjoys 20+ scientific shared resources that provide our investigators with access to a broad range of sophisticated scientific instrumentation, cutting-edge technical and analytical applications, comprehensive sample biorepositories and more. Development of an independent research program is encouraged and will be supported with abundant opportunities to participate in scientifically based clinical trials in collaboration with our clinical oncology investigators and multidisciplinary leaders throughout the institute.

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1898, is the first and oldest National Cancer Institute-funded Comprehensive Cancer Institute. Salary starts at $380,000 commensurate with experience and including a comprehensive benefits package. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

Candidates must be CP or AP/CP trained pathologist with board certification in Transfusion Medicine.  Candidates without board certification in Transfusion Medicine will be considered with the appropriate experience. The candidate will be required to obtain a New York State Medical license and NYSDOH Certificate of Qualification as a laboratory director for all areas which they qualify by experience and training.

Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
