The Aviation Manager will manage the day-to-day activities of the organization's operation. The role will implement company policies, procedures, and initiatives and evaluate to enhance current operational systems. The role will establish operational goals and develop reporting and auditing processes used to measure operational effectiveness. The role will oversee the analysis and review of budgets and schedules of the operation and will manage and advise team members. The role will identify and define future business growth opportunities and will collaborate with other departments to share resources and equipment. This position is located in Livonia, MI.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects for the department including financial management, revenue and income commitments to ownership, staffing, facility, equipment, strategy, customer satisfaction, business development and estimating and general administrative responsibilities.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance including productivity, quality, goal setting and discipline.
  • Set strategic long and short-term operational goals and evaluate outcomes.
  • Develop operational business projections on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis and review financial statements.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of operational systems including safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Act as an advisor to operations teams regarding projects, tasks, operations, and financial performance according to Department Guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures and industry regulations.
  • Implement technology, equipment, and protocols to coincide with industry trends.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 9 years of automotive, manufacturing, or related experience, including 4 years of people management experience.
  • Experience in program management including risk analysis and performance to budget.
  • Experience maintaining current and developing new customer relationships.
  • Experience with cost estimating, quoting, and negotiating
  • Knowledge in a variety of manufacturing or testing concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to provide robust solutions to complex operational problems in a timely and cost- effective manner and to drive results through impacting and influencing others.
  • Able to identify and assemble cross-functional teams and manage, mentor, and train its members.
  • Excellent, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge in MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in low volume manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with 5S, International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to drive results.
  • Understanding of automotive testing, prototype, manufacturing, or similar industry standard practices to include implementing and managing preventative maintenance schedules.
