Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician to join our faculty as a Director for our Observation Unit/ Rapid Decision Unit (RDU).
The Department of Emergency Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical in New Brunswick is seeking a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician to join Rutgers as a Director, for our Observation Unit/Rapid Decision Unit (RDU).
The Director will be responsible for administrative supervision of all medical services performed in the RDU, managing the RDU per organizational and regulatory guidelines, and overseeing all physicians and mid-levels by their job descriptions.
The Department of Emergency Medicine has a well-established 3-year residency program and an Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship. Our faculty participates in all aspects of medical student and resident education. The Emergency Department at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has an annual volume of 73,000.
This is a great opportunity for an eager physician to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary team alongside a robust support staff, including advanced practice providers and scribes, to deliver high-level care at an academic institution.
Responsibilities will include managing and delivering clinical services only in the observation unit, teaching and supervising physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical students, and Emergency Medicine residents, and coordinating clinical services.

Candidate Requirements:
- 5+ years of clinical experience
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of New Jersey
- American Board of Emergency Medicine Eligible/Certified
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong clinical background
- Previous leadership experience, program development experience, and/or teaching experience is preferred
