Intern – Application Developer
JOB SUMMARY
Jump start your IT career with Ryder Systems, Inc.! Ryder's Information Technology organization is strategically focused on growing the supply chain and transportation businesses through new technology-driven solutions that focus on optimizing transportation and supply chain networks.
The Application Developer Intern will perform a variety of job functions which includes development of SAAS solutions, custom development solutions and a wide variety of applications and technologies (Cloud, C#, Java, .net, SQL, API integrations, etc). In this role, gain essential company background and industry knowledge, as well as exposure to Ryder's Supply Chain and Logistics business. This internship will also provide the opportunity to obtain certification in the technical area of interest.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement software programs under the direction of a technical lead
- Maintain and improve the performance of existing software
- Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications and best practices
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing and new software
- Complete training on various technologies and development tools
- All interns must complete a technical project and present to leadership
- Choose a technical path, take courses, study and obtain a certification based on area of interest
- Interact with business and technical teams
- Gain exposure to various technology and development projects and initiatives
- Create technical documentation for reference and reporting
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
H.S. diploma/GED - High School Diploma or equivalent required
Active student (Junior or Senior with 1 year of graduation) OR recent grad majoring in BS or MS Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or relevant field (Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher)
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrate and execute basic to strong knowledge of at least one mainstream programming language (Java, .Net, etc.)
Understanding of object-oriented programming
Proficiency with SQL us Microsoft SQL, Oracle and/or MySQL
Network Support knowledge, exposure to IT Telecom Services
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Intermediate experience using Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data analysis from multiple spreadsheets)
- Desire to work with emerging technologies
- Good communication skills with technical and non-technical members of the extended team
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
- Ability to work independently and as member of a team
- Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
- Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices

Compensation Information :
The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
