  • Pay Type: Exempt / Salary paid Twice Per Month
  • Annual Salary Pay: $90,000 - $95,000 per year based on experience
  • Schedule: Shift: Monday- Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

The Manager R&D will provide technical expertise in designing custom formulations, product innovations, and product optimizations and work directly with the client and R&D team. You will work on revisions to samples to meet clients' needs. Oversee a neat and orderly lab. Manage lab inventory. Other duties as assigned. Opportunity for advancement. You will oversee the product and process development from concept through commercialization for current and potential clients. You will also provide hands on formulating, scale up, and commercialization support.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee all R&D projects lead the R&D team.
  • Advise clients and R&D team concerning technical challenges and improvements to existing products and methods.
  • Build sourcing relationships with suppliers and partners to access ingredients, packaging, and technology that could help bring competitive advantage to our company.
  • Oversee trial runs for new products that test flowability, seal, headroom, and packaging materials.
  • Make samples for clients. Keep detailed records of measurements made. Adhere to formula percentages as close as possible. Keep notes of any revisions or observations made through formulation.
  • Meet with the team to discuss and review client feedback. Discuss in detail concerns they had and discuss what ingredients could be added, removed, or adjusted to meet the client needs.
  • Run and monitor bench-top & manufacturing scale-up batches.
  • Develop a network of outside contacts including customers, vendors, consultants, and educators.
  • Generate supplement facts panels for a variety of product types based on current regulations.
  • Develop processes for product development including sourcing, ideation, development, and testing
  • Required career development, which includes attending approved trade shows and technical presentations.
  • Write and maintain SOPs to outline processes and methods for the R&D team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related degree, Required
  • Five (5) years or more in formulation & development experience in beverage manufacturing industry, Required
  • Experience with flavor systems, flavor development, and sensory evaluation techniques. Intermediate, Required
  • Strong formulation skills Intermediate, Required
  • Experience conducting plant trials/process validation testing Intermediate, Required
  • Familiarity of product shelf-life testing procedures Intermediate, Required
  • Product development process for food & beverage. Intermediate, Required
  • Beverage manufacturing. Intermediate, Required
  • Culinary background beneficial. Intermediate, Preferred

Compensation Information :

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
