About the Job:

Type: Full time/ Permanent

Wage: $55,000 - $65,000 based on experience

Shifts: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Flexibility required: Tuesdays may require extended hours based on business needs.

SUMMARY

Compile and record employee time and payroll data for weekly payroll cycle. May compute and post wages and deductions, or manual prepare paychecks

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Payroll Functions:

  • Responsible for the importing, balancing, and timely processing of weekly payroll via the various payroll time keeping systems
  • Verify received payroll data for accuracy, compliance and approvals; inform managers of any discrepancies which needs further clarification, adjustment, or approval
  • Reconcile and balance weekly processed payroll against payroll registers
  • Ensure internal payroll controls are adhered to - this includes, but is not limited to adhering to Ryder Internal Audit processes; where applicable, validating that overtime is being calculated properly; reviewing audit reports and researching high overtime hours; validating payroll batch files transferred between systems balance
  • Assist managers, employees, HR and locations with inquiries related to payroll
  • Perform payroll output verification and processing for weekly payroll cycle, which includes balancing the processed payroll, running various reports for distribution, preparing mail couriers to the locations and updating of internal departmental spreadsheets.
  • Track employee vacation accruals; process weekly vacation requests by recording of vacation days, confirming time is available and calculation of vacation earnings payout.
  • Follow up with location managers to sort out discrepancies.
  • Assist with special projects and backup for the other payroll cycles, as required ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties as assigned EDUCATION H.S. diploma/GEDVocational/Professional diploma in accounting related studies preferred.Vocational/Professional diploma in Payroll ComplianceChartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferredPayroll certification through the National Payroll Institute (PCP/CPM) preferred EXPERIENCE One (1) year or more experience with payroll working knowledgeOne (1) year or more experience in payroll processing for 1000+ employees preferred0 to One (1) year experience with multi-provincial payroll preferred0 to One (1) year experience in customer service preferred SKILLS Ability to quickly respond to changing assignments, work settings and priorities. Multi tasking & dealing with ambiguityDemonstrates problem solving skills.Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.Proficient in French written and verbal communication skills. (preferred)Ability to listen, write, and speak effectively. Inform, explain, and give instructions.Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).Ability to maintain confidential information.Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure.Detailed oriented with excellent follow-up practices.Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
