SAIC is seeking an Assembly Technician II in San Diego, CA who will perform an assembly of a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical components. This is an ONSITE role and candidate will need to be local to area.
JOB DUTIES:
Makes measurements of product during assembly operations for continuity of components, sub-assemblies and top assemblies.
Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harness build and fitting onto assembly units and racks.
Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.
Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
Determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup
Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, wire/cable feeds.
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out.
Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required per drawing.
May monitor inspect and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
General supervision and instructions given for routine work, and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in related or similar environment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Experienced in electronic soldering, crimping, cable harness build, system level and rack-level integration of subassemblies and wiring subassemblies & components.
- Ability to read, interpret and analyze assembly drawings, BOM, schematic diagrams and blueprints.
- Experienced with continuity and functional testing of cable harnesses and circuit cards.
- Ability to use hand tools, drivers, drill, grinder, soldering iron, crimpers, wire strippers, and torque driver.
- Ability to read speak and communicate effectively with team members to train and receive training.
- Computer skills to use email, computer training, and windows applications to pull drawings
Subassembly build of electro-mechanical components to print; final assembly of full racks or systems including configuration of wiring, circuit cards, and sub-assembled components using engineering drawings.
Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
Ability to cohesively work in a team environment with other assemblers, test personnel and engineering team members.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as necessary on an occasional basis.
DESIRED SKILLS:
AA/AS degree in electronics, mechanics
Fine pitch soldering of small components and surface mount components.
Ability to notice and raise issues or inconsistencies with drawings to communicate and submit redlines.
Experience in lean manufacturing techniques and approaches.
Ability to work sitting or standing as necessary.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to perform assembly using hand tools and occasional power tools and drivers.
Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
