This senior engineering position provides Azure Cloud support to a large government department.  The preferred candidate will be a senior IT engineer with extensive hands-on experience with the design, development, configuration, and maintenance of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment.  The qualified candidate will have extensive experience in analyzing, troubleshooting, and remediating AVD issues.

The position will have a hybrid telework arrangement with a minimum of two onsite workdays at a secure government facility within the Washington DC metropolitan area and up to three telework days a week.  Work schedule will be Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Work location and schedule are subject to change based on government requirements.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors and 9+ years of experience in an information technology related discipline; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • Direct hands-on experience with deploying, configuring, and managing AVD environments, to include host pools, session hosts, and workspaces.
  • Proficiency in Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Azure Active Directory (AAD), and integration with Microsoft 365 services.
  • Knowledge of FSLogix profile containers, user profile management, and optimization for multi-session environments.
  • Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve AVD performance, connectivity, and user access issues.
  • Extensive experience with PowerShell scripting and application scripting for automation, deployment, and configuration management.
  • Understanding of security best practices, conditional access policies, and compliance requirements in Azure.
  • Designs and documents new and existing infrastructure changes.
  • Executes engineering and operational plans and revises as appropriate.
  • Communicates the status of all projects to client, senior technical engineering lead, or project manager.
  • Support test and deploy new enterprise-wide remote access systems/solutions
  • Test and deploy new remote access capabilities that meet the current and expanding needs for the Department; performs research, development, and testing in a lab environment prior to transitioning a product to production environment.
  • Collaborates with Engineering Team on future remote access strategies and design enhancements.
  • Document system changes and participate in change control meetings
  • Creates, updates, and maintains SOPs, A&A, system design/architecture documents, system build guides, technical drawings and schematics, training material, and test plans; engages the quality assurance and training team to ensure documents/training material align with enterprise standards

Required Clearance:

  • US Citizenship
  • Active secret clearance with the ability to obtain a top secret clearance.

Desired Education/Skills:

  • Microsoft 365 Certified Endpoint Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft O365, Azure, Windows 10/11 desktops
  • MS Windows 10,11 image creation
  • Prior work experience supporting U.S. government agencies

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
