SAIC is looking for a Drafter CAD Operator IV in Bedford, IN to support the U.S. Navy.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position will provide drafting and documentation support for NSWC Crane.  In this role you will support a team creating/updating Technical Data Package(s) using SolidWorks 3D parametric Software.  Be able to understand, preform and be able to be trained quickly and efficiently to the processes and procedures that are required.

Job Duties include:

  • Creates and modifies detailed models and drawings using SolidWorks and occasional other forms of CAD Software.
  • Works closely with the Customer, Engineers, Technicians and other CAD Operators to capture design, revise existing documentation and attend meetings.
  • Works independently as well as in a collective team effort to effect changes to design and/or documentation
  • Able to delegate tasking and advice to other team members while maintaining quick decision making under pressure
  • Able to keep Configuration Management of the tasking, files and correspondences as required to complete the task in a quick and orderly fashion.  
  • Performs a variety of moderate and complex tasks and have the ability to use a variety of tools to include, but not limited to, Calipers, Gauges, Tape Measure, Ruler and other mechanical devices to aid in design development and verification/validation of first article pieces.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience; OR Associate's Degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance; Interim Secret needed to start
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have experience utilizing 3D parametric software with preferred disciplines in Solid Edge, SolidWorks and/or CREO
  • Three or more years of experience in mechanical/electrical drafting required
  • Hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical knowledge and aptitude with understanding of currently accepted manufacturing processes and ISO procedures required
  • Experience with Solid Edge
  • Must be detail oriented and able to communicate ideas in a production floor environment
  • Ability to quickly complete tasking independently and as a team member, with detailed or general instructions
  • Advanced verbal and written skills
  • Must have extensive knowledge of military specifications and drafting practices
