FAA- Sr. Regulatory Analyst- Advance Air Mobility (AAM)/UAS Traffic Management (UTM)

UAS Senior Regulatory Analyst

Researches and drafts regulatory documents and reviews documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with appropriate requirements. Available to consult on technical, legal, and regulatory aviation issues related to specific tasks.  Support the UAS Support Center Help Desk summarizing and analyzing public comments, researching aviation and other regulatory issues, supporting special projects, working with Government and industry personnel, and conducting Internet research.  Analyzes Part 107 waivers, UAS airspace waivers and petitions for exemption. Provides expertise on technical aspects for UAS and flight operations including UAS data analysis teams, command and control systems, detect and avoid systems, traffic management systems, spectrum, UAS operations and UAS failure management systems.

Task

Support development, analysis, implementation, and rulemaking for UAS Advance Air Mobility (AAM)/Urban Air Mobility (UAM), UAS Traffic Management (UTM), Beyond Visual line of Sight rules and other UAS integration initiatives.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

Master's Degree and 10 years of aviation-related or regulatory drafting experience, including a minimum of 3 years direct experience in UAS regulatory analysis.  Master's Degree may be waived with Bachelor's Degree and 13 years of related experience including a minimum of 3 years direct experience in UAS operations and NAS integration.

Job requirements:

Strong technical skills in aviation, specifically Air Traffic and UAS flight experience. Knowledge of FAA regulations, most notably 49 USC part 91 and part 107 as they relate to UAS. Understand the difference between civil, commercial, and public aircraft operations. Experience with UAS systems and capabilities. Knowledge of UAS, including technology, operations, regulations and applications.  Knowledge of UAS beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations and associated mitigations as well as command and control (C2) and detect and avoid (DAA) capabilities. Knowledge of air traffic, flight standards procedures and aircraft certification processes and procedures. Must be able to perform research on aspects of UAS to respond to inquiries and be able to problem-solve and think critically. Possess - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, guide and work with groups across lines of business that include federal and contract resources. Applicants should also be adaptable, pro-active, able to multi-task, flexible, have the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, and have the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
