SAIC is looking for a Field Engineer in San Diego, CA.
Selected candidate would provide technical assistance to the Navy Ionospheric Monitoring System (NIMS) formerly known as Meteorological Mobile Facility (Replacement) Next Generation (METMF(R) NEXGEN). Mentor and train Marine Technicians on maintaining, perform corrective action, and upgrade the METMF(R) System, TMQ-56 (V) Weather Observation System, the EWR® Weather Radars, and the AMSS. Provide hands-on system grooms. Provide Fleet technical assistance via distance support (phone/email) on the METMF(R) System. The selected candidate would be part of a well knowledgeable research and development team and would have the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated accomplishments in the areas RDT&E, FOT&E, Fleet Technical Support, Service Life Extension Engineering, Engineering Change development and deployment, and Network Administration.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, and RedHat and Microsoft Operating Systems.
- Possess a thorough understanding of weather forecasting sensors and weather prediction software, in particular, systems that acquire, integrate, and disseminate in-situ weather data and forecasts from local sensors, satellite imagery, and radar.
- Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills to brief US Military Meteorological Maintenance Officers, and US Government civilian in-service engineering leadership
- Facilitate the resolution of time-critical trouble tickets, analyze failure mode data, and develop and deploy engineering field changes and provide failure analysis in support of Casualty Reports (CASREPS) and Customer Service Requests
- Willingness to travel to USMC installations and exercises and National Weather Service (NWS) sites worldwide, including war zones.
- Perform Preliminary Integration Test & Checkout (PITCO), advanced troubleshooting, subsystem assembly and test, and inventory control.
- Perform failure analysis and critical item selection in support of PITCO and approved parts list (APL) revision.
- Develop, update, and present technical documentation including Planned Maintenance System (PMW) documentation and technical manuals for operators, maintainers, and administrators.
- Demonstrate evidence of being a team player and highly motivated life-long learner
- Foresee system and process deficiencies and recommend solutions to minimize risk
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelors and five (5) years' experience or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree may be considered; Masters and three (3) years or more experience. Applicable experience will be accepted in lieu of degrees.
Required Skills:
· Ability to operate independently and without direct supervision to support the Government Sponsor and meet the goals of the Program
· Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
· Must carry an Active Secret Clearance
Desired Skills and Certifications:
· Demonstrated technical writing and briefing
· Understanding of PEO C4I, SPAWAR and experience with US Navy C4I systems
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
