SAIC is seeking a highly motivated High School Apprentice – Technician I to join our team. This entry-level opportunity is designed for high school students interested in gaining hands-on experience in technical fields such as engineering, IT, electronics, or maintenance support. The apprentice will support projects requiring basic technical knowledge and skills, working closely with experienced technicians and engineers to learn and contribute to the success of our innovative projects.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to start a career in a technical field, providing hands-on training, mentorship, and skill development in a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior technicians with routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment and systems.
  • Perform basic tasks, such as assembling, installing, and testing components under direct supervision.
  • Support fieldwork, inspections, and technical assignments in areas like electronics, mechanical systems, or IT infrastructure.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and inventory usage.
  • Learn and adhere to safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and company policies.
  • Participate in training sessions, mentoring programs, and hands-on workshops to develop technical competencies.
  • Provide assistance in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A high school student 18 years of age looking to gain technical experience.
  • Interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields or vocational training (e.g., IT, engineering, mechanics, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of and interest in technical equipment, tools, and systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work closely under supervision.
  • No clearance required to start however must be able to obtain a secret clearance.  SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.

Work Schedule:

Flexible hours to accommodate school schedules, with the potential for after-school and summer hours.
