SAIC seeks a mid-career to senior-level engineer with an infrared (IR) engineering background to serve as an integral member of a government/contractor team. As an Infrared Engineer, you will work directly with government/contracting organizations supporting operational programs and advanced research to model infrared sensing systems. In this role, you will review acquisition and requirements documents, model IR sensors and optical components, and support life-cycle design and operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to address complex technical issues using internal best practices and through collaboration with experienced colleagues
  • Experience evaluating infrared sensors and optical technology advancements to address challenging customer requirements
  • Experience supporting high-performing hardware teams with IR/optical designs and concepts
  • Experience communicating and presenting complex topics across all organizational levels
  • Experience solving highly complex problems using a significant application of technical knowledge, such as IR subsystem analysis, signal processing, and IR performance modeling
  • Experience performing IR propagation and interference analysis for design and optimization in challenging electromagnetic environments

     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience
  • Must currently hold a TS/SCI and Poly clearance
  • Experience with specific IR technologies, such as:
    • IR optical systems and lenses
    • IR signal processing and image analysis
    • IR laser systems and sources
    • Multispectral and hyperspectral IR imaging
    • IR system integration and calibration

Desired:

  • Advanced degree in the technical domain
  • Experience supporting operations
  • Experience in identifying design elements or formulating alternatives to improve the performance of those elements
