SAIC is seeking a Lead Network Systems Engineer to support the AWS Cloud Managed Services for USTRANSCOM. This role involves providing strategic, technical, and program management guidance to support and modernize the combatant command's infrastructure, systems, and applications under the USTC Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate (TCJ6).
The successful candidate will drive complex projects from inception to conclusion, offering strategic advice and technical expertise. Analyze, evaluate, and recommend improvements for mission-critical challenges. Consult clients to define needs, supervise studies, and provide effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop project requirements from inception to completion for complex programs.
- Provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to program and project teams.
- Analyze and recommend improvements for mission-critical challenges.

- Technical leadership in developing and implementing commercial cloud solution architectures focusing on security, scalability, and resiliency.
- Plan, design, and manage the migration, integration, and operation of client cloud environments.
- Ensure cloud services comply with DoD Cloud Computing policies.
- Provide detailed information on hardware/software selection, cloud provider options, and efficient implementation techniques.
- Conduct testing of cloud and virtualization systems.
- Maintain expertise in cloud computing standards and technologies (cloud service provider architecture, cloud deployment models, automation, containers, etc.).
- Evaluate new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance service capabilities.
- Participate in strategic planning with senior managers.
Work Schedule:
- Standard business hours (Monday to Friday) with potential after-hours and weekend support for planned or emergency events.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- BS and ten (10) years or more experience. (Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.)
- Active DoD Secret Clearance.
- IAT Level III certifications (CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH).
· Must have or be able to obtain an AWS Solutions Architect certification within 90 days of hire
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer.
- Proficient in Redhat Enterprise Linux OS and command line administration.
- Expertise in Palo Alto next-generation firewalls.
- Understanding of layer three routing protocols, particularly BGP.
- Experience troubleshooting end-to-end connectivity within DoD networking.
- Experience with Zero Trust architecture.
- Managing multiple networking devices and using configuration tools like Panorama, Big IQ.
- Teamwork and mentoring skills.
- Proactive in identifying and resolving inefficiencies.
Desired Qualifications:
- MA/MS degree.
- 15+ years of experience.
- AWS Cloud Solutions Architect Professional Certification.
- AWS Advanced Networking specialty certification
- ITIL V4 Foundations Certification.
- Familiarity with tools like Git, Jenkins, Groovy, YML, and AWS security capabilities (WAF, GuardDuty, IAM).
- Experience with F5 Big-IP (LTM, ASM modules).
- Extensive experience as a cloud engineer with AWS, Networking, VPNs.
- Knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, CloudFormation, Lambda, IAM).
- Experience with AWS Workspaces or VDI solutions in AWS Cloud.
- Proficiency in Route 53 deployment and management in AWS GovCloud.
- AWS networking and Transit Gateway experience.
- Managing Palo Alto FWs security policy, NAT policy, BGP routing.
- Experience with Juniper and Cisco virtual cloud routers.
- BGP routing in a DoD environment.
- Familiarity with AWS Site-to-Site Connections.
- Experience with Azure commercial cloud services.
- Knowledge of Route53 DNS.
