We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Research Analyst to join our talented team. In this role, you will apply mathematical modeling and optimizing methods to assist management with decision-making and policy formulation. You will collect and analyze data, develop decision support software, and supply optimal logistics networks to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision-making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.
  • Collect and analyze data and develop decision support software, service, or products.
  • Develop and supply optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation.  
  • Interpret results and formulate insights and findings underpinned by the data analysis.
  • Gather operational data from various sources (internal systems, surveys, etc.) and perform statistical analysis to identify patterns and trends.
  • Create detailed process maps to visualize current workflows, identify bottlenecks, and assess overall efficiency.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyze data to identify potential areas for cost reduction, time savings, and quality enhancement.
  • Create actionable recommendations based on data analysis to address identified issues.
  • Assist in operational analysis projects from initiation to completion, including timelines and deliverables.
  • Work closely with different departments to gather information, implement changes, and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's level degree in an Engineering discipline, Physics or Mathematics.
  • Three (3) years professional experience in operations research.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Experience with data analysis software like Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, and other relevant tools.
  • Understanding of statistical methods and techniques to analyze data effectively.
  • Ability to identify root causes of issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Clear and concise communication of complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of business operations, key metrics, and financial implications of decisions.
  • Knowledge of process improvement frameworks like Lean or Six Sigma.

Required Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
    • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
