We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Operations Research Analyst to join our talented team. In this role, you will apply mathematical modeling and optimizing methods to assist management with decision-making and policy formulation. You will also lead operational improvement projects, analyze large datasets to identify trends, and develop process optimization strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across operations.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision-making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.
  • Collect and analyze data and develop decision support software, service, or products.
  • Develop and supply optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation.  
  • Interpret results and formulate insights and findings underpinned by the data analysis.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement across operations.
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in existing workflows, designing and implementing process optimization strategies.
  • Lead operational improvement projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and meeting project goals.
  • Use statistical methods to forecast operational needs and develop strategic plans based on data analysis.
  • Create clear and concise reports to communicate insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, manage expectations, and ensure alignment on operational initiatives.
  • Utilize data analysis tools and software to extract, manipulate, and visualize data effectively.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's level degree in an Engineering discipline, Physics or Mathematics.
  • Seven (7) years professional experience in operations research.
  • Strong ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Ability to identify root causes of operational issues and developing practical solutions.
  • Ability to clearly present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Ability to visually represent workflows and identify areas for improvement.
  • Expertise in data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, and statistical software.
  • Understanding of the broader business context and aligning operational improvements with strategic goals.
  • Ability to guide and motivate teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Effective written and verbal communication to present complex data insights to diverse audiences.

Required Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
    • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
