SAIC is actively seeking a dynamic Policy Analyst to join our team and support the Headquarters Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Policy and Strategy Division (AF/A10P), Nuclear Policy and Strategy Branch (AF/A10PS). This position is based in the vibrant Arlington, VA area, within the iconic Pentagon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and Oversee: Review studies, audits, and reports conducted by the DoD and other agencies to determine their impact on Air Force nuclear missions, ensuring alignment with AF/A10 goals.
  • Strategic Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis and draft influential position papers on the Air Force's nuclear posture, Conventional-Nuclear Integration (CNI), and deterrence strategies.
  • Expert Consultation: Provide expert advice to facilitate the Air Force's role in Conventional-Nuclear Integration governance and strategy.
  • Wargaming Support: Enhance AF/A10P's engagement in DoD-wide wargaming initiatives, focusing on the development of nuclear and non-nuclear integration.
  • Policy Development: Draft and coordinate comprehensive staff packages, ready for review and approval, that shape Air Force nuclear policies.
  • Executive Briefings: Create compelling briefings and presentations for senior Air Force leaders, translating complex data into clear and actionable insights.
  • Meeting Coordination: Organize high-level meetings and prepare detailed read-ahead packages to ensure informed decision-making.

Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree: With a minimum of ten years of relevant experience.
  • Master's Degree: With at least eight years of related experience.

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • DoD Knowledge: Deep understanding of DoD structure and functions.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with the Air Staff and various DoD organizations.
  • Expertise: Strong background in deterrence theory, nuclear strategy, arms control, geopolitics, and U.S. military challenges.
  • Communication: Exceptional oral and written skills for clear, complex information delivery.
  • Teamwork & Independence: Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Project Management: Skilled in handling multiple projects and achieving successful outcomes.
  • Analytical Skills: Superior research, analysis, and writing abilities.
  • Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Desired Skills:

  • Military Operations: Knowledge of Air Force nuclear operations.
  • Wargaming: Experience in designing, analyzing, and participating in wargames.
  • NC3 Knowledge: Familiarity with the US Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) system.
