The Senior System Administrator will provide support for operational intelligence integration and data-centric operations for customers across tactical, joint, interagency, allied, and coalition partners, including Army Service Component Commands (ASCC), Joint Task Force J-2s, and Combatant Commands.
This position is contingent upon award expected summer 2026. Work is to be performed at Ft. Belvoir, VA.
Performs high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers. Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities. Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Plans and implements the modernization of servers. Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules. Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Incumbent develops and implements new standards, policies and procedures. Incumbent in this job works closely with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented. IMPACT: Designs research and develops highly advanced new applications resulting in new product/business opportunities for the company. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would have a long-term negative effect on organization's reputation and business posture.
LIASON: Serves as consultant to top management in long-range company planning concerning new or projected areas of technological research and advancements. Prime spokesperson on company's technical capabilities and future directions. Often instrumental in attracting and obtaining major new company business.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree and 12 years of related experience OR Bachelors degree and 17 years of related experience
- Experience in server administration, including supporting servers in a production environment
- Experience identifying and analyzing server requirements; planning the design and deployment of new technologies and upgrades
- Experience with Windows Server 2016 and later operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
- Ability to work as both part of a team and independently; and mentor junior personnel
- Experience using PowerShell and other scripting languages
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
- DoD 8140.03 IAT Level II/Intermediate certification
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MSCA) or Windows Server 2012/Windows Server 2016 Certification
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
- Possess a current TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain a CI polygraph
