SAIC is seeking a Test Engineer to support the Navy Business Group at SAIC.

Job Description: 

Our team supports the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport in the design and development of several different Automated Test Equipment systems for U.S. Navy. These systems allow the fleet to test critical torpedo hardware components and sub-assemblies to ensure they are ready for service. Applicants should be proficient in testing methodologies, experienced with designing and executing test plans, analyzing test data, familiarity with relevant industry standards, and hands-on experience with various testing equipment.

Work is performed remotely with some on-site support at critical suppliers located in the Denver area. Candidates are expected to be able to be on-site when necessary in order to work with ATE hardware in-person. 

Job Duties: 

You will work as a part of a remote team to design, develop, and verify ATE systems: 

  • Works closely with developers, product managers, and other engineers to understand product requirements, discuss test strategies, and ensure quality throughout testing events.
  • Works with systems engineers to analyze hardware and software requirements provided by the Navy. 
  • Works with electrical and mechanical engineers to research and design ATE hardware components and wiring. 
  • Works with other test engineers to perform test software applications in NI TestStand and C++. 
  • Test plan development: Create detailed test plans outlining test objectives, procedures, data collection methods, and expected outcomes for system testing during large scale testing events. 
  • Supports bench and design verification testing of ATE hardware and software against requirements. 
  • Data Analysis: Analyze collected test data to identify anomalies, validate system performance against requirements, and generate comprehensive test reports with findings and recommendations. 
  • Works with technical writers to accurately document design elements and develop end-user manuals. 
  • Works with project managers to identify technical issues and present solutions to the Navy.

Work environment: 

The SAIC engineering team is responsible for providing professional, efficient support to multiple Navy contracts and customers. Staff are expected to complete tasks with limited supervision but are provided clear direction by management and task-leads. SAIC managers support giving staff blocks of meeting-free time in order to complete detailed tasks without distraction but also requires team members to work together to solve more complex problems.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience: 

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related engineering discipline. 
  • Five (5) or more years of experience developing software to automate testing of electronic devices and equipment. 
  • Experience developing software to interface test sequences with calibrated test equipment and switch matrixes. 
  • Experience using NI TestStand and C++. 
  • Testing Methodology: Proficient in test design principles, test case development, and data analysis techniques. 
  • Test Report Generation: Accurately documenting test results, including data analysis and anomaly identification. 
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to document test results, present findings to stakeholders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. 
  • Experience developing documentation to capture software design details as well as test plans and procedures. 
  • Must be able to work in a team environment while completing tasks in an unsupervised and self-directed fashion. 

Required Clearance: 

  • Must have at least an interim Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance for the duration of the contract. 

Desired Skills: 

  • Experience with Navy (or at least DoD related) programs. 
  • Electrical circuit or system design. 
  • Performing Functional Testing: Executing tests on mechanical components like actuators, motors, and assemblies, as well as electrical circuits, power systems, and control logic to verify functionality. 
  • Test Equipment Proficiency: Operating and interpreting data from oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, load banks, data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with NI LabVIEW and/or CVI. 
  • Familiarity with System Engineering concepts. 
  • Experience with MS Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
