SAIC is seeking a Service Desk Intern that is ready to have a real insight into the world of work, test your skills in real-life situations, explore your career options and gain an insight into an organization or career path. Location of work is Chantilly, VA. 

Throughout an SAIC internship you will develop a variety of soft skills, including communication skills, personal effectiveness, presentation skills, creative problem solving and influencing skills. Internships are great opportunities to speak directly to people who have experience in the role you aspire to; and their knowledge of the job and working environment will give you a greater understanding of what it's all about and what you need to do to progress.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

  • Provide walk up service desk support.
  • Imaging laptops and desktops; Image about 30-50 laptops/desktops a week.
  • Work desk help tickets – new hires, replacement machines, ship out equipment.
  • Utilize and update asset database on daily basis.
  • Provides technical support, either within the company or in support of customer contracts, on assignments utilizing established procedures. 
  • Candidates will have the opportunity to explore all aspects of an IT organization from technical to support functions. 
  • Understand that this short description is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of duties assigned. 
  • Mentors will set the specific duties and responsibilities for each intern that in engaged with their team within the organization.
  • This is an entry level position where the intern will be able to apply basic fundamentals, concepts and procedures to expand their classroom knowledge to workforce level.

IMPACT: Errors are very difficult to detect and would normally require significant expenditures to resolve. 

LIAISON: Contacts are frequent with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data on matters of importance to the function of the department or which may be a sensitive nature.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: AA Degree in related discipline and three (3) years related experience; OR, High School and five (5) years related experience. 

  • Strong attention-to-detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate successfully as part of a diverse team in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite 365, especially Microsoft Excel, is required.
  • Excellent communication, outstanding initiative, aggressive problem-solving and task management skills as well as excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to encourage, inspire and participate in teamwork.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
