SAIC is seeking a space launch requirement engineer to provide space vehicle processing technical advisory services to the Office of Space Launch at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. This position requires working knowledge of space launch systems and processes in order to provide technical, programmatic, and risk assessments to Government customers. This position must be able to convey information in a clear and articulate manner and support cradle-to-grave launch and launch support activities. This position will support Government managers in maintaining capability baselines and will work closely with mission teams, other Government team members, and service support contractors to plan, develop, mature, and integrate mission requirements into requirements management processes and tools.
Key Duties Include:
Provide engineering and operational requirements management including assessments, recommendations for process improvements, and development of solutions to support critical space vehicle launch support systems.
- Provide technical oversight, reviews, and reports on critical support systems' accuracy, timeliness, and other factors affecting operational capabilities.
- Support mission integration efforts that require engineering review, assessment, or verification of launch support requirements.
- Support launch base requirements development and verification.
- Support system capability Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
Identify, document, prioritize, coordinate, track, and mitigate risks using systems engineering and management processes.
- Support the development of mission support baseline requirements and manage capability requirements within IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation tool.
- Provide integrated program assessments and recommendations for the tactical and strategic planning for critical space launch support systems including payload processing facilities, payload launch support infrastructure, payload monitoring systems, Operations and Maintenance (O&M) systems/processes, modeling and simulation tools, and enterprise tools.
Coordinate with the Government to provide support for anomalies involving facilities, infrastructure, or equipment.
- Recommend and document the requirement verification effort for each mission and provide assessments to the Government on mission readiness milestones.
- Review and provide technical assessments of contractor proposals, designs, drawings, non-conformances, and other technical documentation.
Assess and coordinate O&M contractor Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
Qualifications
- Minimum five (5 ) years or more of experience in space launch systems, launch base operations, and/or space vehicle processing. In lieu of degree, must have experience in space, 3 years of launch processes.
- TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph (or ability to obtain CI Poly).
- United States citizenship required.
- Competent technical expertise.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information through white papers and presentations.
- General understanding of launch vehicle production processes and practices, launch site preparations flow and day-of-launch procedures.
- Experience in Digital Engineering tools, processes, and procedures.
- Experience in systems engineering and systems integration.
- Working knowledge of systems engineering documentation to include concepts of operations, interface control documents, and verification and test.
- Ability to provide technical recommendations on the development, integration, and use of requirement management tools.
- Proactive, self-starting, independent, flexible professional with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel on an occasional basis.
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
